Switching accountants – not so hard to do

Hamish Mexted Accounting & Compliance

If you think that changing accountant is too hard, difficult or time consuming think again.  You don’t need to do a thing – we can even break up with them for you.

Because it’s such an easy process there’s no reason to put up with bad service, overcharging or sleepless nights wondering if you’re on track.  By law your previous chartered accountant must hand over all records you own, as well as any records necessary for your new accountant to pick up your work. There’s no need for you to dig out your old records, try to remember what you were up to three years ago or find the time to answer a bunch of questions about your numbers.

The process is (generally) as follows:

  1. You find a chartered accountant you trust and feel comfortable working with
  2. The new chartered accountant will write to the previous accountant for clearance to do your work (a legal requirement)
  3. The old accountant will hand over the records for your new chartered accountant to do your work.

Easy.  You don’t have to do a thing (other than pick up the phone and give iif a call).
