Riann joined iif a little over a year ago and has never looked back. She thrives on meeting new clients and building stronger collaborative relationships with current ones. Riann started her accounting career 10 years ago with a larger firm here in Wellington. After getting her grounding in the industry she chose to give corporate accounting a shot and left to work at Spark (back then Telecom). Both of these roles provided vital experience but neither fulfilled her or challenged her in the right ways so she took a gamble and left the accounting profession to focus on her growing family.
Time away in different cities in NZ and then a few years spent living abroad in Japan while raising a young family added another dimension of experience that she can now throw whole heartedly into the people the work and the team culture here at iif. Riann joined iif with a renewed energy and drive to be more than just another accountant.
Outside of work Riann’s few spare hours are filled with the vibrancy of her growing family with children aged 9, 5 and almost 2. Sports too have always played quite a big role in her life but after having a knee reconstruction late last year due to a netball injury things slowed down a bit. Just recently she has taken up waka ama – ocean paddling and is already planning when to go all in and enter a race. Not one to keep many hours in her day empty Riann also runs a fitness consultancy (personal training and community fitness sessions) with her husband inspiring others in their community to get more active, fit and healthy.
Riann says, “Finding that balance between work life, family and other endeavours can be a struggle at times but working at in a business that has a focus on people at its heart makes it all so much easier.”
