The Million Dollar Question – What Do I Wish Entrepreneurs Would Ask?

Hamish Mexted Odds & Ends

As I sit in multiple client meetings per week, the question I wish clients would ask me more often is:

“What I would worry about most if I were an investor or owner of their business.”

I often provide clients with my thoughts on this even if they don’t ask, which they rarely do.

All too often, when a business is performing well, an analysis of the challenges, risk factors and weaknesses facing the business are put on the back burner.  This is generally of no consequence in the short term, but in the long term it can have a detrimental impact on the business, particularly around growth and innovation.  It is important that we realise that the market and technology changes and that we must move with the market before we get left behind.  We must be able to see those risks now and have plans to manage and mitigate them before it’s too late.  So, what keeps you awake at night and what are you doing about it?
