Job Description

We’re after a part-time administrator to help run the office. The role may lead to a graduate position next year so we’re looking for someone that will fit in with the team longer term.

A little bit about us

We are:

  • A tight team focused on challenging ourselves and our customers to try new things
  • Very open about what the role entails
  • Paperless and (more-or-less) 100% Xero
  • Constantly improving our products and how we deliver them
  • Aware of and open about our shortcomings
  • Fast paced and probably a bit OCD about some things
  • Focused on who our ideal customer is and gear our processes around them
  • We have CAANZ ATE status

Tasks and Duties:

  • Help with the administration of the office. You have to be honest – this is the mundane part of the role and includes answering the phone, scanning files, filing emails, creating processes, scheduling work and more. In short, you’ll end up running the office.
  • Day-to-day bookkeeping for a few select customers. You’ll be entering creditors into Xero, arranging payments, preparing reports and more.
  • Keeping the office clean and tidy
  • Technology setups including Xero, ReceiptBank, Vend and more.
  • Social media, blog posts, newsletters and arranging customer seminars
  • Eventually some basic accounting work including Financial Statements, Tax Returns and GST Returns.

We’re looking for someone who is

  • Self starting – you’ll often be left to your own devices and need to be able to just ‘get on with things’
  • Doesn’t mind doing the more mundane work
  • Able to do more hours when required
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand, and will (when graduated) meet the requirements for CAANZ
  • Great on the phone and dealing with customers
  • Extremely well organised and good at communicating

What’s in it for you

  • A hard working, but relaxed (no, this isn’t an oxymoron) and fun environment
  • The ability to grow as the business grows
  • Access to customers and being able to work directly with Hamish (the sole director)
  • A rewarding place to work where your opinion is valued and you’re encouraged to try new things (we know, this sounds a bit cheesy but it’s what we’re all about)
  • Valuable experience in an Chartered Accounting office, and potentially a graduate role later down the track

How to apply

  • Please do not include a separate cover letter. The body of your email will act as your cover letter. I’m not a huge fan of reading resumes (who is?), so I will read the email first. Tell me something interesting about yourself, or about a risk you’ve taken in the past, and why you’re applying for the position. Also, please don’t address it to “Dear Sir or Madam”, at least figure out our names…
  • Include “I’m not a boring accountant” in the subject line of your email. If you don’t, your application won’t get read. No joke.

Please email your CV and (interesting) covering email to Hamish at [email protected]
